Dicas de expressões em Inglês: Bounce back (dar a volta por cima), Make up for (Compensar), To flatter (Bajular)

1. ´Bounce back´ significa ´se recuperar ou dar a volta por cima ´

Meaning: To start to be successful again after a difficult period, for example after a failure, illness or unhappiness

Ex:  1. Our company has bounced back after making a loss last year.

2. The market is likely to bounce back next year after the recession.
3. She bounced back pretty quickly after the surgery.

2.´Make up for´ significa ´compensar´

Meaning: To compensate for something bad with something good
Ex.   1. He brought her flowers to make up for his bad behaviour.
2. The profit this year has made up for last year’s loss.
3. I never have breakfast but I make up for it at lunch.
 

3. ´To flatter’´ significa ´bajular´

Meaning : To praise someone to  make them feel attractive or important, sometimes not in a sincere way

Ex. 1. She’s always flattering our boss because she wants a promotion.
       2. I know you are flattering me because you want to borrow some money.
