1. ´ Bird´s eye view´ significa ´ visão aérea ou visão de conjunto´
 
Meaning: A view from a very high place that allows you to see a large area  OR An overall view or a broad view of a situation.
 
Ex.  1. I suggest you climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower if you want a bird´s eye view of Paris. / Eu sugiro que você suba ao topo da Torre Eiffel se quiser ter uma vista aérea de Paris.

        2. The CFO stepped back and got a bird´s eye view of the situation in order to understand the cause of the financial crisis./ O CFO recuou e teve uma visão geral da situação para entender a causa da crise financeira.

2. ´Chip in´ significa  ´contribuir com dinheiro ou sugestão ou idéia´

 Meaning: To give some money specially when several people are giving money to pay for something together OR contribute in a discussion by giving ideas or suggestions.
Ex. 1. Everyone chipped in $20 for the team lunch./ Todos contribuíram com $ 20 para o almoço da equipe.
       2.  All the family members chipped in with ideas for celebrating grandma´s birthday./ Todos os membros da família colaboraram com ideias para comemorar o aniversário da vovó.

3. ´ Back to square one ´ significa ´voltar a estaca zero´

 
Meaning: You have returned to where you started and need to start working on the plan again from the beginning because your attempt failed.
 

Ex. 1. If this doesn´t work, we´ll be back to square one./ Se isso não funcionar, estaremos de volta à estaca zero.

2. The Government spent years to strengthen the economy, but now the recession has shattered the economy and we are back to square one./ O governo passou anos para fortalecer a economia, mas agora a recessão destruiu a economia e voltamos à estaca zero.

4.  ´Break even ´ significa ´ponto de equilibrio/ou em que não há lucro nem prejuízo´
 
Meaning: If a person or business breaks even they earn as much money as they spend but they do not make a profit or loss.

Ex. 1. The airline hopes to break even next year and return to profit the following year. / A companhia aérea espera empatar no próximo ano e voltar a lucrar no ano seguinte.

      2. KTB International has never made profit but according to the forecast, they are expected to break even next year. / A KTB International nunca teve lucro, mas de acordo com a previsão, espera-se que eles tenham um ponto de equilíbrio no próximo ano.
